Armour Door Plates Removed - Shouldn't be surprised!
« on: 14 December 2008, 20:59 »
Hi, is there a tool similar to a welders clamp that you know of so I can repair the break in damage to my door, bought the car assuming that the armour door plates were hiding this. There is no metal missing it is just bent up.

Have done a search and could not find the answer and would really like to get rid of the door plates!

Just get the armoured plates colour coded and they shouldnt stand out that much. remeber! better safe than sorry

Point taken however I am a sucker for originality at that is what I am trying to achieve with this one. Not a daily and will be garaged unless the sun is out!

fair enough, if its gonna be garaged and only out when the sun is high up then its reasonable, for a daily though, definitly have armoured door plates!!

Well, other than getting a body shop or maybe a dent repair company, would it not be worth sourcing a 2nd hand door to replace the entire door with?

I've still got these on my list of things to get but always forget!  :embarassed:

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

The doors themselves are in great condition, just thought that a  clamp would fix the problem, thought about something like the one in the middle.

Problem is getting it in the door handle hole really would need to be small and at right angles to the grip
