well the conversion will be done after April 19th which is when DH, danny_p and the pizza eating ballast they are taking get back from the ring trip. I've got exams around June time so the conversion will be done probably in may at some point.
We are aiming to do it in the space of a long weekend, hopefully old engine out on a Friday evening and new engine in Saturday morning, ready for preparation and tuning throughout Saturday and Sunday.

As you said LL, there is potential for more power and it is great satisfaction passing an MOT on something you've built.

Roll on conversion time

Now get that dying 8v out over the weekend and get the 16v in and done by the next!

And that's the key bit.

TBH I think I should make him wait until his exams are over.  I don't want to be the reason for EPIC education FAIL now, do I?
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

good point DH, but if you wanted me to not epically fail education you should have adopted me 5 years ago

I'm seriously un-academic and I've never revised, so you wouldn't be stopping me from anything don't worry

Diamond hell pretty much said what I was going to say, thanks man! :afro:

Wayne, you say fit a 1.8T, maybe more power but look at the cost, check out LL's thread, it's cost him well over 2 grand for everything, if not more.

The donor car DH knows is the perfect car as it ahs a cable change box so it saves me time and work.

I only said fit a 1.8t as it make more sense, but you no longer listen to anybody else so no point in posting anymore on this thread.

Lots of the French boys swap the motors in their VTRs for 16V motors, so why's this so different?

it's still retarded - just buy a vts.

It only makes more sense if he wanted to keep on making changes to the map, turbo upgrades and had loads of money to chuck at it.

ABF makes more sense for a student on a tight budget with an ailing engine, no?

So he's not listen and doing what DH says over what you are saying, he's doing what makes sense for him.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

I respect that but that is not the point I am making, many a thread has been asked in the mk3 section over the running issues or getting more power out of it, I along with many others have offered advice on what steps to make to no avail, then up pops this reference fitting an ABF because DH says it is a good move.

Maybe it is, who knows.
