Forge DV for Ed30
« on: 07 December 2008, 21:13 »
Should i bother? No i haven't got a remap YET, waiting for weather to clear up a bit :)

Wondering, Can i fit it myself? It seems simple enough, but then the guide goes into some "cap" and a4 info... which i assume i don't pay attention to as mine isn't an a4.. lol..

I also saw on vvortex that it was no better than oem...

Really just want ppls opinions as im in two minds of bothering....

What year is your car? Have you got a 'g' revision OEM diverter valve? Many argue that the problems associated with the stock DV have been solved by the 'g' version. I dont recall seeing any hardcore proof that this is the case though.

In all honesty, the forge is a much better product - the quality is second to none, and there will be no worries that it will fail. You are obviously worried that your stock valve will fail - as you are contemplating the forge. Buying the forge will therefore eliminate those worries.

Few peeps on here have fitted it themselves, im sure they will be more than willing to help you!

i got it in july 07. how do i find out what rev it is?

would be handy if i could fit it myself, save the garage charge!

the OEM one can always be put back on (i.e to sell it stock) cant it?

After my remap my B version DV tore.  I have had the G version in 4 months now and everything is fine. Personally speaking I don't think the forge is necessary.  It cost me £30 and £30 for an independent to fit it.  It is called the cut off valve at the dealers.

I think the K04 DV is more reliable than the K03 which is located in the hot zone bolted directly to the turbo, where as the K04's is located remotely at the front of the engine. The valve is made of plastic which doesn't lend itself to heat so the cooler the better

I would until you have a problem, my ED30 did about 8000miles on the std DV remapped, and the S3 has done 5000 on the std DV mapped with no problems. Its up to you at the end of the day

Steve, getting mine remapped next week with a DV being put on at the same time. Way I see if, if Im going to spend some money getting it mapped then might aswell fork out a bit more and get it put on to avoid the situation in the first place.

To my knowledge sooner or later it will go pop.
