power advice
« on: 07 December 2008, 16:21 »
hello, I am looking to get 2 pioneer ts-w3001D4 12" woofers installed into my mk5 gti.

They are both 1000W RMS, so I am going to be using a 2000W amp and 2 power caps.

Would I need to install another battery? Or uprate my alternator?

Thanks

not too sure what amp im going to use, could you recommend one?
how many amps would the alternator be putting out? im not going to turn the amp up very often so that its pulling 2000w anyway.
what battery should i get?

depending on the car the alternator could be either a 90 amp or 150 amp
amp wise something that is going to give 2000 rms is not going to be cheap
are your subs dual 4 ohm or dual 2

its this sub here: http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-pioneer-ts-w3001d4_p-22963.htm

Im thinking that there may not be any point in getting 2. May just go with the 1.

if you want to go for just the one amp then this would be perfect 1000 rms at 2 ohm

as for a battery i would go for an optima yellow top £179.99 or a stinger sp170 around £200

that amp is a bit pricey, would this one be good? http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-jbl-gto-1201-1_p-21935.htm

also would I need that battery for just 1 subwoofer?
