Anyone with Revo had their car serviced recently?
« on: 26 November 2008, 13:25 »

Hi all,

I have my car booked in for it's first service at a VW main dealer next week. I'm concerned that they may try to do a VW software update and wipe my remap in the process. Does anyone know if there are new updates the dealer might try to upload?

ohh bugga, mine is in with the stealers right at this moment in time!

I did advise them that it had been re-mapped and the service person wrote it on the front of the job card. I hope they don’t do an update I wont be able to get the Revo dealer that remapped it for a while as they are miles away...

I always specifically tell the dealer that I don't want any software downloads as then I have a comeback against them if they do a download. This has applied to my last 5 cars

Hmm, don't know what to do. If there is a VW update I feel the car should get it because, correct me if I'm wrong, it doesn't just update the engine ECU, it also updates the cars 'operating system', i.e all the controllers for the windows, locks, and all the other modules which you see on VAG-COM.

It will be a pain in the ass if they wipe the remap though as it'll mean setting a day aside and making an appointment to go and get it re-Revo'd.

If it's an ECU update it will overwrite the REVO flash.

Some dealers don't charge for the reflash, others charge a nominal labour fee.  There is no charge from REVO.

As Stu says, I wouldn't worry about it to much, as your Revo dealer should reload the map straight back on if that happens..
