« on: 13 November 2008, 08:45 »
hey guys

1 day i was putting my cd player in and i had to take the glove compartment off to access the back, during the process i must have touched some wires and now the airbag sensor light is on,

ive put it on a diagnostic machine and it comes up with fault code 00589 airbag ignition circuit,

can some1 tell me that this is some wire come lose or have i messed the whole system up,

I should check the wiring and make sure you haven't disturbed it at all.

When working on the airbag system you should disconnect the battery and wait 15 to 30 minutes after disconnecting in case there is any stored charge.

Or the slipring is knackered. If you've had the steering wheel off and not kept the slipring that sits in the rear of the steering wheel in the same position it come off then reattached the steering wheel with it not not in the original position then turning the steering wheel full lock it will snap the coil inside the slipring !!
