....
Wh|t3R@bb|t if you sold your car to that stealing robbing barsteward..what sticky white digits do you think they would have put on your car on the forecourt?

I have had my eyes on an R32 up here for a while..dickhead wants to make 3k on my car and at least 4k on the one I want to buy....7k (ish)....now...come on...give me what i want, and I will pay you my car plus 5k? No....says the dealer,....i will just keep this car on the forecourt and let it depreciate further and eventually have to stick it into the auction house.
.....

Without crashing the thread too much....

Its very true mate...and thats the annoying thing.  In the sales guys defence, he was really f**ked off as he wanted the deal.  I basically said give me £14ish for mine and I'll give you the difference in cash.  He said...sounds great...leave it with me....

Rang me about 1hr later and said he can only offer between....wait for it...you'll love this....between £10.5 and 12k for mine.  (07 GTi, DSG, 20k, Leather, Cruise, 18's etc).  He was livid.  He says his trade in prices are dictated by their "buying group" which he can't adjust.  And he'd already knocked 2.5k off the R32.  He really wanted the deal.  And he said he'd already been told they'd stick my car straight on the forecourt for between £15-£16K.   Why is it so much effort to buy a car nowadays...especially for us cash buyers :-(

Worst of all, he'd spent an hour telling me how well they had done in between Xmas and New Year..they sold 6 cars in 3 days and then 7 cars in one day on the 2nd.  SO they're obviously trading well...so why then give such crap trade in values if they know they're selling?

So know...will probably sell the Gti and buy a boring A3 Diesel :-(

dealers simply dont have the cash to offer us for part ex's thats why.Depreciation hasnt changed if you sell privately. Dealers just haven't got the cash so hense all of a sudden, trade in deals are a waste of time at car dealerships.

this is exactly what i have found when i was planning to treade in mine for an ED30, i gave up in the end as the prices offered against mine were silly but, thats how the market place is at the mo.

Bloody lovely that...and I've read a few reviews and they seem to like it...pleased its Quattro too.

My 3.2 TT was great fun but i've said for years that my ideal car would be a TT Diesel...so I suppose I should get one now there is on.  Bit steep though at 26k because by the time you've added everything (joys of Audi's & BM's) it'll be closer to £30k.

I do like the 170 A3 Diesels....very tempted....but the more I look at my car on the drive, I really love it.  I wish my mrs shared my love of the brilliance of Golfs in Gti and R32 forms.....she really hates it (however she loves her Cooper S Convertible).

White rabbit (sorry on iPhone) can't cut and paste :-(
That is truely shocking! Dealers are going to get it up the poop shoot very soon unless they change mate, you were lucky you don't need to change, imagine the poor unfortunate made redundant and who has to sell. Sod dealers sell and buy private.... But be prepared to sell for 1k above dealer.

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)
