How can you define what being 'faster' means? There was nothing between stock ED30's and stock R32's at santapod last time i looked. From a rolling start, while already on boost, sure the turbo might pull away until it reaches vmax and the R32 sails past. My point is.. its all bullsh!t figures and the only thing I'm trying to prove here is the guy's claims on his advert are valid because that is also VW's official line

Phil can I also refer to the lap times of the TOP GEAR test track which prove without a shadow of a doubt the R32 is the fastest golf

From what I remeber it was almost 2 CLEAR SECONDS FASTER THAT THE ED30

ok, we are talking in a straight line, not a test track R32uk, the edition 30 dsg IS faster in a straight line then the R, only when bends and Race circuits are brought in, is when the R can go round them Faster.

If something is faster it means from point A to Point B, doesnt have to have a series of bends roundabouts etc in between

The Release of the R36 passat is Now VW's fastest Production car available.

And wheres the video of an edition 30 going around TG's track, has it been shown on the box??? i havent seen it.

I didnt realise we were bringing conditions into it...   Surely the best way to find out which car is faster would be to put it round a track??

Either way, over here in the UK where approx 60% of the year it is wet... I would still say that the ED30 will be getting beat by the R32. So the only way the ED30 will quicker is if the track is straight + the weather is dry + its a DSG. Hardly fair to say the ED30 is the quickest most powerful golf..

'most powerful golf' is one claim noone can possibly argue away. I can almost hear the 'but remapped..!' cries now, and I'm sorry but that doesn't count

im quoting from Vw driver issue when the edition30's were released in March issue 07 which previews the DSG version( jan07 for the manual). It states very clearly, "makes this GTi, the fastest excelarating vehical that Vw has Produced to date surpassing the Formidable R32"

We will both had to agree to disagree!!, but in the wise words of hir Topher, back on subject!

wheres My Vw driver Mag that has in big words "FASTEST PRODUCTION VW" Edition 30 (Before the recent release of the R36) it is no longer.
Sorry Toph, those figures are abit inaccurate. Hurdy's standard ed30 DSG at the Pod was 5.66.(before he modded) He cant go 1 second faster just because he's talented now can he!

Wheres all the ed30's owners when you need them.................oh yeah i know where theyve gone :embarassed:

Im here, but just enjoying this thread!!
