loosing water, thermostat not opening

Hi all i got a digi 8v and my thermostats not opening, went for a drive and warning light came on for low water, while checking level out i noticed the water in resivouir tank was bubbling and i could hear it venting out system...
do u think the two will be related??

yep - my thermostat went tits, back pressured the system, took heater  matrix out and knackered float in my expansion tank.  :cry:

oh, and when mine was getting recovered, i was told the light wasnt just for low water,  :undecided:

Dunno if thats true, but the AA man said it was for High temp too, cos my stat wasnt opening, one of the sensors in the engine will trigger it too cos it was overheating  :sad:

like i said, not 100% clued up, just going on what the nice man said as he tried bodging mine to get me home, but as the light kept flashing  with full water after bridging me matrix out he would let me drive it.  :cry:

filled the old girl up this morning,ran her up and thermostat opened, so would the amount of water in system effect the opening of thermostat???
also during cool down period no boiling or bubbling, im confused

dunno ive slightl over filled it so when it cools down ill get some water out n try again

Yep, if your coolant is low it won't pressurise properly and you'll get airlocks all over the shop.

I wouldn't worry about overfilling it a bit (unless its literally brimming!!).
