You have a fair point - who does it go against if nobody was in the car? e.g. 3rd party bumper you car, accepted liability and you got the car repaired with their insurance paying - no different in my mind than you having a bump yourself and paying for it yourself
I told my wife's insurance when someone bumped hers, the 3rd party sorted the repair and my insurance have never asked anymore about it, they just made a not on the policy when I originally called to tell them. How would i know how much it cost etc..?
