i tried many things to find this fault.. it never came up on the scanner before either..
i replaced both relays..
anyhow recently have been driving (mainly while on the motorway, longish journeys) and the car would just start to splutter/die. i would let off the throttle for a moment and then plant the foot back on and it would go..
so was looking under the bonnet today to look for vacuum leaks.. i found that the pipe for the manifold to FPR was a bit rotten and also the manifold to MAP sensor pipe was also looking poor.. so on the way home i popped into halfords and bought some vacuum hose.
when i got home i plugged in the scanner to see what i could find..
IT CAME UP WITH:   00519 Manifold Absolute pressure SNS - G71 NO signal, intermittant fault.
now i am hoping to god that the ECU isnt cupoot.. i am hoping it was the fact that the vacuum hoses were perished and the problem is fixed..
fingers crossed eh?..
anybody else come across this problem?... cheers, jamie.

Had the same problem on my old 16v and it was caused by a perished map sensor hose. To replace it, you simply pull the old one off at the manifold, then lift the scuttle panel and pull the other side off at the ecu, then attach new hose. Hope that makes sense

yeah, i have done a temporary job for now as i have no time and i have a few long journeys to do this week..
but the hose seems to be routed in an awkward way.. it seems to go towards the wing then through the bulkhead before it routes back towards the manifold.. through loads of trunking like.. was just wondering what else needs to be removed...
cheers, jamie.

When i did mine, i pulled out the old one, think i had to lift the pollen filter out to get at it, then i replaced it by the most direct route. (through grommet in bulkhead).

yeah, that's which way its going at the moment. (the grommet that's about 3-4 cm in diameter?..)
just want to route it as it was originally.. couldnt do it at the time as it was late and just wanted to get it done so i could drive to work the next day..
and it definitely did the trick

Hello Overseer mate!

Pipe runs up from intake manifold, around back and then up through bulkhead. Most pics wont pick it up as its only 4 or 5mm tube. Its only a push fit with no jubilee clips. So yes dead easy job.
