your vw dealer must be the best in the country!! they seem to have everything and seem to do anything for you (even mods), whereas everyone else is stuck with cr@ppy service. which dealership is it??!! think i might have to get my next car from them

....They are very good but of course no-one is perfect. You tend to hear about the bad ones and not so much about the good dealers.

I do make it easy to be good though - I'm very flexible, never in a hurry, and treat them all like human beings whoever they are in the company - We simply have a great relationship and they appreciate it.

Joe, a car bought on finance remains the property of the financier until the last payment is made. 99.999% of contracts will have a clause built into them whereby it is the responsibility of the owner to keep the car in ORIGINAL condition and not modify it in ANY way.

I feel genuinely sorry for the guy, but SEAT or the financier are well withing their legal right to reclaim the car as the term/s of the contract will have been breached. Even the OP on SCN admits this.

It is "The worst case scenario" come true for him, but he must have known that this was a possibility (although a small one!) and most peeps want to think "there for the grace of god go I"

I still think he was very harshly dealt with, but no-one except him knows exactly what went on or if he inadvertantly aggravated the situation in any way :undecided:

i really cant believe that people who have cars on finance still mod, knowing that this could happen, i only just learnt this today, that you cant mod cars on finance  he will have lost a shed load of money now, possibly more than he could pick a mk1 lcr up for

and there was me thinking id get an s3 on part finance next year....FOOOOK THAT.

OK another sinario.......what if the car was second hand?

I'm in a lucky position as to have paid cash + p/x for mine.

If I hadn't got the money to pay for it - but knew I wanted to modify it, I would take out a loan rather than car finance. With a loan, you will own the car, but owe the money.

If the car was second hand, but still on finance, you would have to prove that the modifications were there when the finance was taken out, otherwise the same clauses would stand. :nerd:
