I have met the guys from wide-wheels at various local meets in the last few years and they run the wheels themselves (and so do other people from the local clubs) and nobody has ever mentioned any issue regarding quality and strength....
I kinda want some 16" new beetle banded steels!! 

A guy on ed38 has a set with tyres for sale, only issue is he is looking for £475, I would buy a set of alloys for that to be honest.

without the tax? looking at that website surely £150 is a bargain for banded steels so you should have bought them?

thats my point if 'scene tax' existed they would surely cost more than £150...

my point was, looking at the cost of getting a set of steels banded, the £475 is a reasonable price for a set of 16" beetle steels.... so i don't see where the 'scene tax' (or market value if you're a normal person buying any other product in any other market) comes in?
