4 Year Service (40k Miles)

Hey all,

I have just been quoted £300 for a 40k mile service on my 05 GTI. (Windrush Slough VW) Is this any good? Anyone paid more or less?

No.  Take a close read of your service book.  Only the "main" services are quoted for.  There is some text like "all addtional work items are chargeable at extra cost" - and these include things like the BFC, the DSG service, Haldex service, spark plug change, timing belt, etc.

Some stealers are very sneaky like that - they may quote you £300 for the 40k service, but then they will also add £60-80 for the BFC, £180-250 for the DSG service, and so on.  My old man got really stung a few years back - he had a Merc A class, and for its second service, came to over £800 - nearly sent him to his coffin!

buy  the plugs from vw and fit them yourself and the pollen filter, should save you a few quid
