I paid £430 for 40k + DSG + Brake fluid

Check with another dealer and if cheaper ask for a price match, thats what I did as one was cheaper than the other.

£285 for the 40 thou service and £160 for the DSG malarky.

already had the brake fluid done at an independant VW garage for £25.

i had my 3 year service on 26/08/08, mileage was 20461...

they charged my £315

brake fluid and aircon needed changing..

so i guess you have a reasonable quote for your 40k service.

sparks plugs and pollen filter a 60,000 mile service requirement according to my service book.

the service i had yesterday throw up a few additions, obviously i said thanks but no thanks and booked my gti straight in with an independant.

£149 plus vat to change the osf CV boot.

my local independant charges £55 for cv boot.

the other nasty surprise was they found 2 nails in my osr tyre, only had them on 7 months, oh and wear around the outer edge of the osf, they recommended i change the full 4!!

its getting the tracking done and the rear tyre repaired tomorrow!

FFS they dont half try it on dont they?

good valet though.

edited, they are quite cheap for the Air con service i think, £75 for a full clean and system recharge, i'll be getting mine done spring.

Hmmm, timing belt are suppose to be a bit of a pig on this engine - hence the change on the TSI version.

I'm due for one early next year sometime.
