Well its clicking when I move the throttle away from closed and back to closed so I assume its working, also the wiring doesnt look like there are any problems...

Next idea please? :embarassed:

replace all your vacum hose's make alot more of a different when they are brand new with no fraying atall.

plus if you have a k and n replace it all back to standard.

Ive got a standard airbox, k&n's are for chavs  :evil:

I checked for leaks all seems to be good, also took the isv out and gave it a bit of a clean, which has helped things a bit.

When I started it it was running a bit smoother and the idle wasn't really jumping about.

So I am going to try and sort the Co2 and idle screw now and see where I get to  :wink:....

ok, other thing to check is the throttle shuts right up against the throttle stop :)

Ok, so I get it al nice and running smoothly, so reconnect the coolant sensor and put everything back together. Start the car up and the idle bouncing is back again, only this time when it goes low the car almost cuts out!!!  :angry:

So I have to readjust the idle/CO2 to make sure it doesnt cut out.

I think im going to have to check over the timing and dizzy advance first, would this cause these problems if they weren't correct?

hmm, is the blue sender new? worth swapping it if not not spensive from vw either!
edit: oh and a quick n dirty test of the throttle switch system, hold it just off idle at around 1.5k, then press the switch on top of the throttle body.  the revs should drop, then rise back up again when you release it :)

The temp sender isnt new, but when I unplug it it effects the revs.

Pretty sure the throttle switches are workign as well as I had a play with them last night.

Sorry, my advice only applies to the 16v. You didn't say which engine you was on about.
