If I could I'd have a 16v over a 8v any day, purely because they keep pulling when the 8v's give up. (from what I've read).

If you have the knowledge, time and money I'm sure many on here would say get a cheap shell and go for a 2.0 16v ABF coversion

people would do better to have an opinion on it only after had driven both. to actually do an abf conversion is not as simple as danny_p and diamond hell would have you believe.

I've had a 16V and now have a 8 and to be honest I'd be happy with either, its condition of the body that matters the most

16v anyday but then again i would say that as i have one. you will have to drive the 16v harder but it does pull very well when you get higher up the rev range esp with a few tweaks to the engine ;)

after reading that topic i feel like a thingy for starting another one  i agree it should be stickyed tho. anyway from reading that theard iv come to the conclusion the 16v is the better car ( comnen sense really) but the 8v is still a wicked car and if you can afford the insurance and fuel you may aswell get a 16v unless you cant find anynice one or you find a minter 8v. im going to go for a 16v hopefully in black

i liked the quote "16v is scary fast over over5k"  thats what i want  well i want it too just feel powerfull and pull well throw you back in the seat nicely couldent give a f**k about 0-60 times but it must feel quick threw the gears does a gti feel like that?

if you controll your right foot the 16v can be better on fuel  problem is it's more fun to boot it around so it happens much more
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

As I've driven 8V and 16V..... round the Nurburgring....

2.0 16V ABF on Digifant 3 - the power AND the torque, plus knocking on 40MPG when you ease off.

What's not to like?
