1.4SE Cold Start issues...Help...

Hello,

We have recently added a 1997 1.4SE with 100k to the list of motors. It runs generally spot on but it doesn't like cold starts.

It will turn over and start ok and even ticks over ok but until it gets a bit of warmth in it the slightest touch of the throttle and it tries to die or splutters and coughs and then clears.

Common fault or any thoughts guys? It's just had a full oil and filter change air filter's fine been run on V-Power and been on a run often. Once it's been ticking over a few minutes it's absolutely fine and runs spot on. Seems like a 'choke' or cold start valve or temperature sensor issue maybe?? 

Please help as I can see as the weather gets colder it could get worse?

Leave it warm up?     Sorry not helpfull.

Sounds like a sensor, but make sure the warm air hose is in one peice,  clean the thorttle body,  mabey give it a service and see how it goes from there?

Not helpful but true  thats been the routine recently! Warm air hose is in place and not split trottle body appears clean and shiney, done the oil and filters - maybe plugs to check but you're right it does seem like a sensor fault......

Anymore input guys....?

I've got a 1994 1.4 and it does the same now that the mornings are getting colder, I just let it warm up for a few minutes so doesn't bother me but it would be good to know if somethings on the way out so it can be replaced. Doesn't really help you sorry.
