Accident damage.

The original door might be in a skip somewhere.  I suspect it was bent forward by some delivery twerp reversing with the door open, hitting another car and damaging the door pillar.  Your garage or VW UK may have straightened and repainted the pillar and replaced the door.
the rubber has been rubbing on the paint fella.  will be getting sorted on thursday. and as for you sayin accident damage they must be qwick at fixing it i was there at my stealers everyday looking at it from the day it arrived.

My first car, a Datsun, was bought new.
It's drivers door had been fixed (no one told me).
It would not stop rusting.

That rust does not look like a constant rubbing.

That rust does not look like a constant rubbing.  it does not help when the car sits on me drive for a week or so with out using it. also it could of been a problum there before they sprayed it in the factory. i just hope it will be the end of it next week

At the time the Jap cars were beacons of reliability (until Teesside unloaders knackered them).

The new datsun GT-R is quite good.

gotta go with Egbert on this (!)
sorry mad man but that just doesnt look in any shape or form like 'rubbing' induced rust.
more like a prev repair tbh

Id check how long your warranty on the actual repair is, once its done to be safe as you are soon out of full warranty

Good Luck

It could be midges getting in and fretting away the paint, and chromate layer, and zinc.
That's what it is.
