Just bought a mk2 VR6 !!!

THe vw scene is so more chilled, and more of a philosophy, rather than the ford "my cars quicker than yours, has cost more money, has more power"etc

after i sold my RS500 i bought a RS Turbo S2 and people in north yorkshire RS owners club wouldn't talk to me cos i "only had an RS Turbo !!!!!"

Sorry but what was the first hot turbocharged prodution front wheel drive sucsess ?? i think it was the S1 RS Turbo

they are a bunch of tommy tankers and i will never join the RS owners club again !!

yeh £40 for a tax disk holder, window sticker, plastic members card and a sh!te bi monthley mag (well except for when my S1 was in there :see above mag pics)

It was amazing how many "friends" i attained with the cossie. the whole thing sucks!

Argggh still dont have the mk2 home!!! getting really frustrated now, especially as im now insured on it!!
must be patient!!

It nearly killed me on many occassions

people laugh at the "ironing board" and the snow plough, but when ur on boost round a corner at 50mph, trust me u need it. Ford didnt spend millions desigining all that stuff to just look good. the es cos was one of the most sucessful rally cars ever!
the best thing about the car was a balance, and the 4 wheel drive, you could litterally throw it into any corner, and if it started to slid just put you foot down even more and it would just go round!!

Im actually quite happy now to only have 200bhp in the VR6, nice and useable and not stupidly quick, i must be getting old

No worries, its nice to be able to share these things, and reminice, I often forget all the good and bad time ive had with my cars/hobby, its nice to relive it now and again!

Excellent! What a fanatastic read, love the motors all look great. Looking at your beetle (2nd one) and that seems pretty easy to take the shell of. What was state was the chassis in? Looks like a lovely job done on the restore.

yeh beetles are easy, well ive done 4 now, so maybe im bias, but they are basically a giant mechano set with a lawnmower engine in the back.

Well i sold the VR6 on friday, got back exactly what i paid for it . It was just too boring, not saying it was crap, but after a few months of having it it just lost its appeal (as do many of my cars )

THe beetle is now going up for sale also in a week or two, once i get a chance to MOT it.
