I hope Hurdy come in here soon to confirm as iirc his previous APR map from Awesome was actually an Oettinger one.

After much debate I've decided on going for a Revo remap.  I've been talking to a dealer in Mansfield and he has offered basic stage 1 all in for £449 on my ED30, I've asked if he could further discount if we on the forum "made a day of it" and a few more were intersted in getting their cars remapped.  Gonna speak to them further tomorrow, but just of intrest would anyone here be interested - hoping to get it down to maybe £400 all in for basic stage one ?

Regards,

Gareth

which dealer is this ?, and when you say all in whats included ?

The first APR ED30 map was an Oettinger 1, APR have been over and developed their own since, I know this because they used my car

I have been looking at APR as there is a dealer in Croydon near me .... did you have the 'switch' via the cruise control or not ?  If you did, did you actually use it?

As well as APR I am torn between Revo (with/because of select switch) and Superchips - so much choice !

Tuningwerkes???

Reuben is a good bloke, and he can talk all day about how good APR products are and why they should be favoured over REVO. I, myself am in a similar situation to you, with regard to choosing between APR and Revo.  :undecided: :undecided: :undecided: :undecided:

I can also vouch for Reuben at Tuningwerkes, really nice guy and very knowlegeable on their products. I went for the Superchips map (largely on the basis of cost) on on my mk5 which was wiped by the dealer when it went in for a service. Now the Superchips franchise can't reload it via the port and want to take my engine to bits to put it back on, raising obvious warranty concerns for me if I let them  In the meantime, I had the APR trial map (from Tuningwerkes) which loaded fine. So, I am now all for VAG specialists as opposed to the generalist chip tuning companies.

....

So what it comes down to now is mostly between Revo and APR. There's probably not much in regarding driveability and so it comes down to aftersales service and ability to tweak or make corrections.

Red - When Reuben was talking to me about the APR map, he was telling me that it is a completely generic map, with no opportunity to "tweak". Things can only be altered from stage 2 onwards, or if you have an exhaust it can be tuned accordingly.

With Revo, I get the impression that on stage 1, things can be tweaked - i.e. the Revo dealer (in my case JKM like yourself) can change Boost, Fuel and Timing according to your driving style / how you want your map to be individually. Is this true, or am i speaking Sh!te?

Yes, I was referring to Tuningwerkes ... I had an interesting chat with Reuben about a month ago and was impressed by his manner.   He was not in any 'rush' on the phone like many tuners often are and was more than happy to discuss many things with me.  I hadn't really looked at APR until then .... but I think it will be a tough call between them and Revo.
