Engine temperature
«
on:

My engine seems to be getting very hot even after fairly short trips. So hot that I can feel the heat through the bonnet.
Is this normal for an 8v?
Also the temperature guage in the car is reading normal, but does the MFA have some sort of temerature reading? because mine doesn't work.
Cheers

right im having a problem with mine and it seems to be the radiator but could also be the oil!! give ur car a mini service and hopefully will sort it out and make sure ur radiator is coming on.
8 v do get hot i think normal oil temp should be 95-112 ish

my bonnet's always hot after a run, nothing to really worry about, engine temp goes from about 92 when warm up to 115 when beaten with a large stick

i think thinner oils tend to get hotter quicker, and the temperature is higher aswell.
i had 15w/40 in my car before, top temp:116
now, 10w/40 top temp: anything over 120

I normally use Magnatec 10W 40.
But I think I'm going to use that VAG Silver stuff that people on here seem to recommend when I change the oil on saturday.
I flushed my radiator last night.
The water was very brown!! That can't have helped?
One more thing are you guys getting the temperature reading from your MFA?
Cheers

yeah, my readings are from the MFA.
one thing i have noticed is that the fan doesnt kick in until the cooland needle has just cleared the warning light bulb.
Is that right??
