Revo is pretty good, only thing i would look for is to try and buy from a show where peopel seem to be getting it a a greatly reduced price (like under £500 with the switch)

Completely forgot about that! Thanks Blue, will see if there's any deals available on the net.

Dont think you will find it cheaper on the internet, think its a set price at 499 +VAT

....

If someone offers you Revo other than from either Revo themselves or via one of their officially approved agents, stay well away! It won't be genuine or supported.

I don't recall it ever being as much as £700 - More like £550 and worth every penny imo - Great aftersales support and reliable software.

Going for a cheap remap from a less established VAG specialist tuner and saving what? £200? £300? - Not worth it - Any issues could cost you far more than what you've saved.

In terms of problems with a Revo software remap - I don't think too many have had issues with them at all, other than the OEM Diverter Valve failing (unless you have a 'revision G', which are regarded as being better, not bulletproof, but better). Also it has been known for the PCV to fail on occasion. But both are relatively minor.

....And such failings of the DV aren't specifically down to Revo but to VW's weak link in handling increased boost. A friend has Superchips remap and has gone through 3 VW DV's - It's the DV's weakness not the remap. DV's have also failed on standard Mk5 GTI's.

Sorry to not make myself clear - that is exactly what I meant, and assumed that the uz would interpret it that way as I made the point to say OEM! But alas, interpreting text rather than speech is a completely different ball game.

I got what you said White, in terms of replacements, I assume it's better to just go for a Forge DV or similar?
