hi,

i have gone from the 8v to the 16v to the vr6 and my opinion is the vr6 is much better, oviously more powere etc, but if you were to get 1 get the higline as it comes with the extras

I had a quote about 2 months ago on a standard VR and then a highline, standard VR was around £240 if i remember correctly and the Highline about £40 more. (Fully comp!)

Decided to go the sensible route and get an 8v for the fuel consumption and 5 doors for the baby  :nerd:

Cool, not too bad then.  Fuel economy and running costs don't bother me so much, after running a Megane 225 for 2 years, these things seem like pushbikes (cost wise not performance wise!!).

My car is only for occasional use (when the weather is too minging for my motorbike), so will only cover about 4k a year.  The Megane is being sold, so the golf will be a daily driver for a little while when it's gone and we find a replacement (wifes current favs are a RAV4 or a MK4 golf).  Then it's back to tinkering and occasional use!

well as it is my forst insurance on my own fully comp im payijg 1000 per year adn im 25 so its ok for its engine size

Had a valver, now got a vr and i say get a vr........... :evil:. Only costs me about a tenner more a week than my valver and about £130 extra a year on insurance.

Worth it alone just for the noise!  :cool:

That is probably THE reason I want one.  Went to the chippy the other day and heard a MK3 VR6 roar away.  I'm so impressed with my valver (in terms of how easy it is to work on, and how easy/cheap replacement parts are), so wanted to know how different the VR6 was.  I think I HAVE to get one   :cool:

I also wnet form 8v to 16v, then vr6. Love the vr6 for the noise and the grunt. Insurance is 260 fully for me.

Forgot to say mine is a highline and i don't think it made that much difference in insurance costs(1 group)

to be fair vr6 is easy to work on even compared to the 16v or 8v ive had 1 vectra v6 and a omega v6 and there a pain to work on! if ur getting a vr6 make sure its got a cat 1 alarm and immoblizer hell of alot cheaper on insurance. oh and if ur wifes after a new car mk4 golf all the way the other one is poo drive them at work every day
