I run 385ish hp and its fine. Its not like the throttle is a on and off switch. I dont stamp on the throttle everywhere I go, plus im not constantly starting from a standing start. And yes its a daily driver . :smug:

Obvously when your already upto speed, its great to just put your foot down and it blasts off, no wheelspin or anything there.

I dont doubt that with that kind of power you can be gentle.. but if your not able to put your foot right down then surely there is no need for that kind of power. I see what your saying about being able to blast off at speed, just seems like alot of cost/wasted power for the money spent to get to that level.

320bhp is fine in FWD with the right control. But 420 would be a bit OTT in anything under 4th gear I would imagine..
Oh and front tyres can be made to last. Still on my originals on 13k with 5mm left and I don't exactly fanny about..  I reckon the bloody things are made from tungsten carbide..

What make/type boots are you having to suffer?

420....
ain't it a bit... aaah.... too much?  For FWD, that is? :lipsrsealed:

....I'd be inclined to agree, even without the benefit of registering on the linked site. Wheelspin in 6th anyone?

Its all about throttle control!

....Yes I know how important throttle control is but 420 for everyday road use isn't very practical, or should I say comfortable, is it.

Huh - I don't get that comment.

The harder/further you press the throttle, the more of those 420 horses you release.  If you don't want all 420 chomping at the bit, don't press the throttle as hard.  It really is that simple - and is what makes Lewis Hamilton such a god in the rain, yet muppets like Raikonnen (Spa) and Massa (Silverstone) can't handle.

The only time those extremes would be un-managable is if you had a shyte map, which gave massive amounts of boost (therefore massive low down torque) at very low revs, rather than a better map, which increases the torque on a progressive, linear and predictable basis.

....Sorry, but it's beginning to sound like a 'who-can-piss-the-highest-up-the-wall' competition.

Huh - so it's OK for you to "set out your stall", and expect others to agree with what you personally have as being THE benchmark - yet when others come out with higher figures, better products, different products, etc - you try to dis them?

420bhp is not the problem, its the torque figure that triggers the wheel spin, that why they have tuned the car in that way.. (notice the low torque figure)

Hooray - that is exactly right!  :smug:

I think that would be perfectly drivable with an LSD and sticky tyres.. :)

Agreed.  And coupled with a common-sence "nut" holding the steering wheel (aka "the driver" ), it won't be a problem at all.  However, if someone chooses to drive like a tw@t, then even just 100bhp can be too much through the front wheels!

Whilst I agree that four wheel drive would be advisable for 420 nags, a proper engine map, and a disciplined driver really shouldn't have any probs.  Afterall, current F1 cars have about 700-750 hp going through just one axle (now without any electronic driver aids, thank god), and in the "turbo heyday" of F1, they were pushing anywhere between 1500 and 1800 hp through the rears - and this was long before the likes of traction control!

But sometimes, "less is more", and that comes from a disciplined right foot.  :smug:  A throttle pedal is not an "on-off" switch - it is a progressive device, ranging infinately and steplessly from 0 to 100%.  :nerd:  OK pedants might say something about tickover, but I'm sure you get my drift!

....I'm not saying that at all, but frankly it's getting tedious trying to explain myself to you. I'm really not dissing anybody but merely saying that there comes a point where extreme power through a FWD car in the real-world of everyday driving on public roads can be an uncomfortable handful - IN MY OPINION!
