it could be that you have to use the login code for your engine ECU to enable cruise control.
see if the login code of 11463 suggested in this thread works for you.

to activate CC it should be pretty easy - you have to alter 2 lots of settings, first one is simply a tick box to say its got it, the second it altering a number.

Is he using the latest version of VCDS (vagcom) ?

There's a control box under the steering column, perhaps that needs to be upgraded?
I know yours is a 2007 model, but perhaps this link may help....  :nerd:

Okay do you think it needs the wire. This is extract from VCDS

Installation & Wiring
In general the whole retrofit is just plug and play except that one wire may need to be added.

Wire T20d/13 from steering column control module to engine control module (see wiring diagram specific your particular car/engine).
Install cruise control capable lever (see parts catalog/repair manual).

That is the only thing im thinking, I have the wire but according to my fitter it doesnt need it cos it has the correct box/connections. I never thought it would be so difficult to fit CC!

It isn't if you know what you are doing

I have replied to your PM and then saw this.

The wire should only be required for cars before the end of 2005 so you should be ok.

You do not need to use 11463 for a TFSi.

Send me an autoscan of your car by email and I'll generate the correct Long Code for you.

If you are really stuck then I have done it remotely via MSN before so if you can get the car connected and with internet access I'll do it for you.
