I love the querky looks of the new scirroco, as for it being to small thats alright for me i pull a face if mrs top cat wants to get in the gti me being so anal so its not a prob for me.
I will only swap the gti for one though if a 2.0 R version becomes available.
My name will be first on the list.

Golfs have always held there values better than the scirroccos, I guess coz this is new there will be lots of hype, give it a Year or two and they will praise the Golf again.

....Having test driven and photographed the new Scirocco, I was astonished by just how much wide-angle lens filming they did of it on the prog - They made it look more elegant than it is in real life. It's a good car but it won't win any beauty parades imo - Bulbous and too Peugeot-like from some angles.

I can see what they were trying to say in comparing it with the 3-door GTI, but it's simply not true - The 'Rocco boot is tiny and steps up, and at exactly 6ft 0ins my head just touches the roof in the very claustrophobic back and you couldn't possibly seat 3 in the back.

It's best described as a GTI Golf Coupe but the 3-door GTI is still a better allrounder. It would need to be modified to be more exciting in my opinion - Lower it, Milltek it, Revo it.

Have the dealers def stoped orders for the GTi now then ??.

yes, my local dealer has anyway. I used to work there and was told so by the guys I know. They were told directly by VW no more orders for GTI. Thats a dealer here in N Ireland anyway. They reckon VW have stopped GTI orders to try push on sales of the scirocco. I feel even happier now to have my own GTI :)

....So, if it hasn't already been said, 'previously used' Mk5 GTI's purchase prices may hold well, although perhaps not in the current economic climate. We'll have to wait for all the knee-jerking to subside - It always does! It's cyclic.

Stay cool and don't panic with the sheep. :afro:

You will have to wait if you want to fit aftermarket wheels to the new scirroco.
From what I can see the hub fitting for the wheels is 5x125 pcd, very helpfull?

No they aint!  The new Rocco wheels are 5/112 - so identical to the Mk5 Golf - on which the new Rocco is built!
