It does not really matter if the car is a 1.3 or a top spec GTI. Mileage is mileage. Insurance companies used to work on the assumption that the average annual mileage was 12000 miles a year. So if you base mileage per age of the car, you can determin whether your car is average, below or high.
It also depends on where you live. If you live in an area where the roads are thrown together or in very bad condition, the state of the car will deteriorate with very few miles compared to say, that of a motorway driver.
If the engine has had the nuts thrashed out of it from day one, then everything wears out. I have seen a very badly worn engine with only 15000 miles on it.
I would much rather buy a higher mileage, well looked after motorway wagon than a mid country shopping trolley.

id rather have a car somewhere in between, motorways arent great for engines tbh, highish revs for long periods.

not that you will ever know how its been driven! just buy on what you see
