5 years??

How does it last that long? Our 320i went through like 3 exhausts in the space of 5 years and thats a boring old BMW.

Will have to talk him into getting it done sooner...

its a guess, i never usually have a car over 1 year LOL, my parents had a VW and its exhaust lasted 8 years before it went though

Trust the Germans to create an industructible exhaust... 8 years is slightly OB.

Put it this way........... I had a Corsa a few years ago (yes yes yes, big mistake), and the exhaust lasted five years without a problem. I can only assume that VW have better build quality than Vauxhall.....

yeah i'd been very surprised if the GTI exhaust lasts anything less than 5-6-7-years

my old focus ST170 lasted 4 years with me and 2 with my cousin and had no issues at all! and that was Ford!!!!

I have a Milltek Cat back, but my sports cat and downpipe were made my Janspeed. Made to a very high standard and the difference in performance is very noticable, even more so when the map was changed to take into account the easier breathing. Car has a very raspy note over 3k rpm and its tubed nicely so you hear the turbo spooling up. not to everyones taste and you certainly know its coming down the road, but then I only use it at weekends.

Interesting Komeda...

Any particular reason you didn't go for the full Milltek package? Also, why not a Janspeed cat back? (or did they not do one)?

I had the Milltek down pipe to start off with but after a couple of weeks of driving it the throttle response still felt a bit flat, I had the map changed but still no difference. My friend who does all my work suggested trying another downpipe and I had been speaking to Janspeed who had been developing one. As soon as it went on the character of the car changed, it revs much more freely. I also get a completely clean burn now which I wasn't getting with the Milltek downpipe, I have no idea why that is though.

Verrrrrrrrrrrrry interesting.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was the Janspeed sport cat and downpipe? I can't seem to find it on their website.

Because it isn't

Drop this guy an email (dan.mullan@janspeed.com) and say Duane, Silver GTI recommened you. He should be able to get one built for you. Think mine was about £350.
