Why me? For the love of God why me?
« on: 08 September 2008, 18:00 »
Car parked at multistorey carpark at work. Only decent place was a slot next to a poorly parked small car, so parked my car slightly to the left within the bay, to the point where the wheels where on the line itself. Left ample room for me to get out. Pressed the mirrors in.

Came back and a red estate was parked to the left of me. Scratches on the door mirror casing and on the door itself. Fingernail test positive. No camera, no pen, no paper. Memorised the plate-no but don't think it'll do any good. Was tempted to damage the estate but was in a hurry to meet a friend so couldn't hang around for driver.

Arrived home. Mirror casing has green scratches which I could wipe off. Why was it green? Door scratches are tiny - around 10mm max long, horizontal. Could probably be sorted with a touch up paint and buff.

Soooo gutted. Yet if I tried to park over two bays, I'd get fined or lose my parking permit! Sometimes I feel like I should have kept my old fiesta

I know exactly how you feel mate someone scraped mine this weekend too! Bar steward tried to do one too.... but I spotted him on cctv. Worth checking it out or alternatively contacting your insurance company with his details.

As I posted on another thread.. total cost £1436

He has scraped from the sil next to the rear wheel across the rear door, and about 10inches across the drives door too. Slightly rippled the doors too. the parts that need replacing are:

SOUND PAD X2
R.R DOORSKIN
R.R DOOR MOULDING
R.R DOOR 1.PACK ADH
R.F DOORSKIN
R.F DOOR MOULDING
R.F DOOR 1.PACK ADH

These all need painting too. So I am guessing thats where the £1400 comes from. Even I thought it was a little steep.. but hey Im not bothered as I am not paying.

....Such a bummer when things like that happen! And always because some arsehole hasn't got their wits about them.

But, you'll get your car back to normal and put it all behind you :afro:

I had an incident today too - I'll post in separate thread.

Looks like its attack the MK5 month, had a massive stone hit me on Saturday on my way to work. AutoGlass guy came over today to inject resin into it but you can still see the impact point of the stone so its going to need a new windscreen. Is there anything I need to say when I speak to them on the phone as far as auto wipers and rain sensors?

:(

Believe me - that's cheap! I paid something like £500 for R.F. and R.R. door mouldings + respray + labour. Almost top class work too. Only prob is there's a gap between the door metal and the rubber bit right under the mirror. Sure it's a screw missing or something but am too far away to get it fixed. Never noticed it either. Had a mate look at it and try and spot the respray - couldn't but he noticed the gap!

I had my 1-day new car scratched by old lady in an old red car. She just bumped her door into mine. This sh!t happens when other people do not give a sh!t about other people's property.
