I have an (55), car registered in September 2005. though the vin shows it as an 06 model.  Volume buttons are on the left, MFD controls on the right.  The buttons are the same as Reds. So...when did the buttons change to this type? on the 06 Model? Purely out of geeky interest you understand....  :nerd:

clive, you state your car is a 06, does the vin code have a 5 or 6 in the 10th place?....I think its the 10th place, if my old memory serves me.  Or have we established that your mfsw was retrofitted? check inside your service booklet theres a load of codes in there, you should have one that states (1MS) this translates in vw code terms to "leather steering wheel with Tiptronic" and as far as I can ascertain this means if you have that code on your page then your car was factory built with MFSW.

Useful info there No Golf Clubs, I wondered what all those codes meant.  I'll check the year of manufacture later, the date of 1st registration is 08/06 so I would have thought it's an 06 but u never know how long it was sitting about I guess.

^^^ Just got the Registration Certificate in the post so no need to run out to the car.  The VIN number has a 7 in the 10th position.  It's a 17 digit number starting "WVWZZZ..." and there are no 5's or 6's in it?

I seen people on here quote their engine revision, how do I get that from the engine number?

edit: Just found this http://www.abvwc.org.uk/vw_vin.htm and mine is model year 2007 (although it was 1st registered in August 2006)

The buttons on my multi-function wheel don't look like those I see in other peoples pics..  I have all the same buttons in the same locations but the buttons themselves look different.  The buttons in the following pic look like they could be levered out with a sharp object (please don't try this) but on mine there is no gap around the button.  Hope that made sense?

How is it that I have seen different colour backgrounds on the RNS 510 but can't seem to find any options to change it..?
Mine is red and black, but this looks loads better..
