Was thinking about milltek downpipe and cat with the standard rear section, could be best of both worlds

I believe Remus cat back is 80% less restrictive than stock cat back. As unrestrictive as the OEM cat back may be, there are better options out there :)

The downpipe on the mkv gti/ed30 is not as restrictive as the previous mk4's were, but the rear section seems not to be as helpful.
so keeping the downpipe and changing the rear could be an option.

A full system is always going to be better though Keith. I will be interested to see and hear the Remus if you get it fitted, but I still think you will still be strangling the car with the stock downpipe and an aftermarket cat back. Dont let Jims words of wisdom wear you down lol.

What you should try and do is get Owens car and your car on the same r/r on the same day to compare, as you have almost the same spec bar the exhaust.

How does this compare to a Milltek (in relation to a stock system)? Reports on their recent quality issues have put me off slightly, and if I were to find out that another manufacturer offers a product that gives better performance, I would be very interested.

....Considering the amount of development work that goes into an aftermarket exhaust system to get it working as it should, it doesn't make sense to me to mix it.

Get the exhaust and the induction side sorted and those figures will soon jump up. Good results though mate always good news when you get more power that the manufacturers quote.

Keith, when I fitted the full system including downpipe and cat to the Ed30 it made a huge difference
