My car has been having problems with rain all night and not starting in the mornings. This was going on for a few weeks. Any water getting in and it hates it. After a good drive it was fine tho started first time. I changed my dizzy cap, rotor arm and checked my leads but i was still a little dodgy. I noticed a crack in my coilpack but it didnt seem bad. Went through a car wash the other day and she wouldn't dtart at the other end. Got rac man out and he looked at the coilpack. Luckily he had one on him so we changed it and now its sweet.

Check n see if there are any cracks or rust anywhere on your coilpack fella

What and where is the coil pack?

Change my coil pack over today, from my old golf into my new one and everything is running fine now so I'm happy for now :D

It's an easy change, just 2 screws (don't foget the nuts behind the back fo the engine bay! You need to lift the scuttle panel up to get to them)

Yes my golf is very very allergic to water! Any puddles are a no go! 1997 golf mk3 - drive through puddles, misfires loads and usually cuts out, sometimes wont start for hours, sometimes mayb the next day lol. dangerous and irritating - replaced leads, distributor cap and rotor arm, sparks, Manifold air pressure sensor, but still does it! potentially coil pack or distributor? but both seem relatively dry when it does cut out through puddles and i have emptied half a can of WD40 under the bonnet lol, no faults register on engine diagnostics machine when doing it apart from faulty MAP sensor (replaced)

Any ideas anyone??? help!!

I was very brave last friday, on my way home I came across quite a flooded area, it was either turn back and drive 16miles the wrong way for an alternate route or grow some balls and power through over a foot of water, so I slowly powered through and apart from steaming brakes nothing went wrong!!!!I was soo impressed!
