Header tank
« on: 03 September 2008, 10:58 »
Got the coolant warning coming on nearly everytime i start the engine now. Coolant level is fine and if you stop and start the engine it goes away. Gonna have to buy a new header tank  Is this easy to fit? i imagine it is, but anyone got a guide?
Cheers

No guide, mate, but all you need is a phillips screwdriver & a pair of pliers, IIRC (it's been a while since I did mine, TBH).

1) Undo the 2 screws
2) Unplug the top sensor - release the cable from the side of the tank
3) Unclip the top hose - release the cable from the side of the tank

4) This is the tricky bit & you have to work fast, LOL.  You have to take the bottom clip off, but be ready to pull the tank up & turn it on it's side QUICKLY to minimise the coolant spillage.

There maybe better ways out there, but I only lost a few drops.

i did this a couple of months ago, really simple job. Found it was easier to drain the coolant first rather than trying to not spill it everywhere.... (from the tap at the bottom right of the radiator). Plus you get to put brand new G12 back in for good measures (only about £10 from dealers i think)

hope that helps :)
