You will find that The VW discs are made by the same people who make the after market ones ie ATE etc pads as well.
They will last longer (By Miles!)
New discs and pads do nothing unless you bleed the system inc ABS
With good quality fluid once every 2 years.
I have used ATE discs + Padgid pads before on my MK2s with good results but the pads are softer and more abrasive wearing both items faster, but this is the trade off better braking equals more £££.
My MK3 had new discs and pads at 100k fitted at Drift Bridge VW NoV 2005 and i only changed the front pads last Weekend!.
The pads i fitted were ATE stamped Dealer ones i had left from the MK2! Result.
The only real way to improve braking is to increase the surface area
and clamp pressure which i have done on other cars for best results
