hi im thinking about buying a golf gti 8v i have seen but the add says it loses revs when changeing down to first ansd pops out of reverse

popping out of reverse isnt good as the 8v boxes are weak!! it could be simple like the linkage isnt aligned but it could be the box has nearly had it (and they are quite hard to find good!!) and changing down could be many problems but a dirty throttle body, faulty relays or vacuum pipe broke is most common

i do have a golf alreday the engine is f**ked but the gear box is good i have a load more parts i dont mind brekuing mine its upo for 450

as long as its solid (check all the usual rusty places).....£450 sounds ok and having another will make any repairs much cheaper

its an r reg is there any certen years for the engine codes i think i will make an offer for 400 if it looks good the one i have is a p reg

should be same engine between the 2....or 90% will be....£400 will be good but still check for rust as later cars seem to suffer more!!
