Speaker Pods - Mk2 GTI
« on: 06 May 2004, 10:22 »
I'm sure this has been discussed loads already but here it is again ...

What alternatives are there to the speaker pods Audioscape make or the grill covers VW made to fit speakers in the front of a Mk2?

I'm not interested in fitting 5' speakers as they're just not suited to the rest of my system, so the grills are out; seeing as I've allowed around ?300 for the front components i'm loathed to spend almost another ?300 on pods to fit them, so wanna avoid the Audioscape things.

I suppose I could make some, but before I look at that can anyone else offer anything?

I built my own to house a set of 13cms and a set of 17cms. I just took them out yesterday. they replace the whole door pocket with the speakers lifted off the main part and it all smoothed down. then covered them with black vinyl. they're cut to fit a 3dr, but I can trim them down to fit 5dr doors if needed.

if you want them you can have them

the marks on it are only water where I cleaned the mud off (caused by the treasure hunt). The smaller speaker is in the car at the mo.

I'm not selling the 17cm's though unless you make me a decent offer. :)
