G Valve - Diverter Valve
« on: 11 August 2008, 13:01 »
Guys

I am getting a slight whooshing noise (for about 0.5 - 1 second) on change up under 50% acceleration at the moment, but with little or no loss of power.  This is mainly noticable on change up from 2nd to 3rd.

After reading a recent thread, it sounds as if the DV is on its way out, and I'm thinking about changing to the Forge DV.

Now, I've just heard about the G Valve, which is an OEM part and is now fitted in the GTI - apparently it is stronger than the previous version.  The question is, does anyone know when this was introduced and if it is a more permanent solution like the Forge?  Is it a worthwhile replacement or should I go for the Forge?

p.s. I've got a 2008 GTI (built around October 2008), running a Stage 1 remap, with high ambient temperatures over here....

We cannot advise with cars built in the future...

The G version is similiar to the previous version and has the same weaknesses so like  182_blue says, consider the Forge solution.

Another option and IMHO the preferred option is to make up a relocation kit as fitted to the ED30 and other KO4 turbo equipped cars.

This is simply as case of buying the parts from VW.

My car is August 07 and was fitted with the "C" valve from new. This only lasted about 6k miles of Revo abuse. I fitted a new "G" valve and am at 24k now, so far so good.

What my old one looked like:

I bought one off the internet that claimed to be the "latest" version - and got the C version (same as in the car now)

So where did you guys get the G version?
