I seem to get abit of a judder changing from 1st to 2nd. Never noticed this until the new engine.

Only way I can explain it is what feels like the engine moving making the whole car judder.

Shagged engine mounts then.  Looks like it is a common problem.

I have owned my first VW for 6 months now.
These tales of engine mounts read like British Leyland horror stories of the '80s.

Jap or BMW for me next time I think.

they said they actually changed the gearbox oil for *upgraded oil* (sure...)

Right, if I have worked out your car correctly, it should have a manual transmission with a code "KDU" (will be on your data sticker) - therefore the correct oil will be 2.3 litres of G 052 171 A2 - however, ETKA does NOT list any "upgraded" gearbox oil (though my version of ETKA is a little old, maybe 6 months out of date - must hunt for the upgrades - anyone speak Russian? ) - so it might be worth asking for a copy of the job sheet for this.

what is ETKA?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ETKA

So this is crap?? they cant have upgraded it?

Well I'm not 100% certain.  Like I said, my ETKA is probably six months out of date, so maybe they are telling you right.  Ask them for the actual part number of the oil they used.

took a photo of what they said on my phone:

OK, looks like the stealer was having finger trouble too.   So it looks like I worked out the first two part numbers, but the third one just aint coming up with anything close!

BTW, what is www.rockmyspace ?  Sommat like photobucket?

so the dealer has typed the wrong numbers down... now im worried they wont get the right bit in??????????

yeah its just a free be upload place i found.. lolz

But it was probably just some bimbo admin clerk who typed that invoice, copying it from the teccys handwriting.  The parts persons are usually fairly switched on.

from what I understand ETKA is like a parts catalogue for all vag group cars and ELSA is like a haynes manual as such telling you how to do the jobs. A friend of mine gave me a copy of both about 18 months ago and I've only recently realised what they are and how much use they can be. Sayin that they are still in the envelope upstairs he sent them in

Oooo - fancy doing me a copy of ELSA?

What does vag mean?

Before the days when Volkswagen owned Seat and Å koda, they just used to own Audi - and the "parent company" was known as "Volkswagen Audi Group", and abbreviated to "VAG".  The name still sticks today.

Hmmmm, if I were you, I'd log onto the "hate site" for the latest Honda Civic - a real crock of sh!t, and the owners are having horrendous problems.

BMWs will disapoint, especially when it gets wet, or snowy, or icy.  I think that most automotive "engineers" will tell you how overrated BMWs are.

Engine mounts arn't particularly difficult to change.  The real ball-ache is actually getting the stealers to admit they are shagged - "oh, they are all like that, sir"
