ED30 Sport Mode Blue Fin Remap DSG
« on: 07 August 2008, 13:48 »
Hi, I noticed today whilst showing a friend the speed of my car that when the car is in sport mode its revs right up to 7000rpm, way into the red. I think I was in 4th as well. has anyone else experienced this and will this harm my car?

Some remaps can elevate the rev limit. The only time to start worrying is if it bounces off the redline at full throttle, rather than simply changing up

Thanks Hurdy. I have also noticed that when cruising around 40-60 the rev seem to increase then decrease on there own accord. I have spoken to a friend and they seem to think that the valve timing is out due to the remap???

Cruising between 40 and sixty in D mode would mean that you would probably be varying between 5th and 6th gears(4th and even third if you put your foot down) and hence the revs will vary too. When you get this variation, do you watch for the gear changing in the MFD? If you aren't changing gears then there is something amiss if the revs are varying and there is no respective change in speed. In S Mode you will be in either third or fourth gears at 40-60mph, but generally in S mode you wouldn't tend to get as much swapping of cogs. You definitely shouldn't be getting rev variation at a constant speed with constant pressure on the accellerator.
