Don't worry about the Hijack, it keeps my pics up at the top of the forum, ha ha.

I'm surprised you've found the A640 lacking, but that could be due to the large number of pixels on a small senser.

The only realy way to pick one is to head down to a shop and have a fiddle with a few and find a few you like then check out the reviews online. I would say stick to brands like Nikon, Canon, Sony and pentax as these guys all make high end cameras and the technology filters down not to mention they all make good glass and nothing makes more of a difference then decent glass. For instance the one I gave you above has the Digic III processor in it which is in the newer Canon DSLRs, my 400D only has DIGIC II!!!

Excellent photos! Wouldn't mind being able to take pictures this good myself..

Can you provide some info on how you took the pics? Are you using an external flash for these? Lighting? Positioning? What kind of shutter speeds/aperatures did you use?

Cheers :)

Now worries!

All I think were shot at ISO 800 with a reasonbley fast shutter speed and at f8. The flash is mounted on a tripod and positioned wherever will give good light and fired with a radio trigger by the camera. I took most of these on a -1EV to get the nice dark skies.

Thanks for the info :)

Is the lens vignetting photoshopped in?

Think I'll have a shot with my new remote flash trigger some time this week :D

re-hijacking, if the man's spending as much as he says he is - why not get a DSLR?

If I'm honest I don't touch the capabilities my 400D has, but I still get a much better result than if I was shooting with a compact.  The colours are so much richer than a compact and they catch the action exactly when you want - I've found with much better definition than a compact, too.

Unless you want something you can slip into a pocket without creating an unslightly bulge (matron) then DSLRs are where it's at, whether you're using them stoopid like I am, or in a very involved manner, as Nick is.

Corking photos as ever, Nick -  your shots have come a long way in a very short time.    When are you changing your username to Rankin2?
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Yes mate, it is indeed. Good luck with the flash trigger, did you get an eBay special one like mine? I tell you it's the best £20 I've spent on bits for my camera so far, love it!

Cheers Tom :-)

I did indeed! It doesn't seem very sturdy when connected to the stand though. But it is very fun!

Haven't had a proper go with it yet, just messing about :)
