I think the price you were charged is about right for the MFD2 - It was a very expensive unit.

Not being funny but have you not tried 'touching' the screen to operate it??  I surprised it took you a little while to realise.  How long have you had the car?

What you want and what I believe your invoice refers to is the newer RNS510 system.  I would suggest that you go back to them and insist that they fit the RNS510, I know they can be bought off eBay etc but you would have the support of a factory type fit and a brand new unit if they provide it.  Insist on a replacement car if they won't change the MFD2 out.

Check over your paperwork and then pop into the dealers ASAP, don't try and do it over the phone do it face to face.

Perhaps even invite your salesman to show you how it works with the touch screen features  :smug:

That could be a good fly on the wall type moment when the salesman tries to touch the screen.  :embarassed:

Just double checked my final sales invoice and it lists "DVD nav. Touch Screen".

It was on configurator/quote tool the dealer used to price up the car that it didn't distinguish between the old and the new nav (just said DVD sat nav with 6.5" colour screen).

Hope your invoice is clear then the dealer hasn't got a leg to stand on.

I'll see what the dealer says, Im sure at the time I bought the car, the salesman told me the buttons down the side of the nav system were effectively the 'touch screen' ! What a load of old bollox!

Does anyone know how much MFD was as an optional extra? (its not available anymore) that would fight my case more if I have been charged for the touch screen system.

Anyone got an old options price list?

Dan

MFD2 was about £1850 as an optional extra with CD or iPod, including centre armrest (£1571.20 + VAT) !

 I still have my old invoice.

The newer RNS510 is cheaper - if you were charged £1450 you have either been discounted or given the wrong Sat Nav.

I have a Nov 06 price list, and for the GTI, the non-touch screen RNS-MFD2 DVD sat nav was £1845 inc VAT, which also included the front centre armrest with either 6CD changer or iPod prep.

Dunno about the latest RNS-510 touch screens.

Do you have any update on this, would be nice to know what the dealer said.
