get the ole multimeter on the power supplies to see wot theyr doin!!
if ur gettin intermitant power from one of the powers whether its the permanent live or ignition switched live..then perhaps check ur fuse for radio..could be weak or loose.

failing that, check the earth to see if its effective enough...unplug the unit then plug it back in..shud reset it.

if that stil dont work, then it could be the radio at fault...but its not usually a problem that radios suffer, but more so a wiring defect behind it.

see how u get on with chekin the powers, may make more sense as to why its performin the way it is then!!
Why pay big bucks when you can do it yourself???

after taking my car in the garage for another problem, it seems to have indirectly sorted the stereo issue out thankfully
