After a couple of months of ownership I finally stepped onto the slippery slope of modifying.
Initially I was sold on the Revo map, but after having a few issues with my dealer getting some delivery defects (and damaged they caused during a repair attempt) resolved they offered the services of their sister company, Richter Sport, to provide a remap at a very good price

as part of a compensation deal.
After driving their demo standard GTI for a few days while mine was in for the final repairs I was very impressed with the overall improvement in the drivability, I also did some research into the origin of the map and found it's basically the standard superchips one.
Also after speaking to my dealer found that they are far more accommodating towards warranty claims where the parts could be affected by the remap than I thought they would be.
So last Wednesday the remap was applied and my I initial impression is WOW!
The power delivery is very smooth and the pull especially in third is just awesome. Also now I have returned to a more normal driving style mpg is up by just over 3mpg on average on my daily commute.
An ITG Pro Filter also now in and the Carbon Fiber intake (ebay version) has just landed at Standstead acording to Fedex tracking.
Also been in contact with APS in Brackley about a Milltek as the next mod!
