Monza II wheels, anybody painted them all silver?

There's an American company doing replicas in 18" & 19" and you can have them colour coded if you like.

a smoke chrome effect might look better than just a silver ?, i think they need to shine nicely like the diamond cut ones do, or as said earlier by another poster get a refurb

....Yep, Smoke Chrome looks good imo. Lepsons do a base coat in black and then you can choose how much silver on top and therefore have different shades of silver grey. About £55 per corner including refurb.

i guess they would look like the 17's  , why ruin 2 others because of 2, theres a bloke selling 2 new monza 2's in vw driver this month, only wants £200 for the pair, get another one IMO

When I ordered my GTI (smiling just typing those words  ) I wanted it absolutely standard - the only thing that tempted me where the 18"Monzas as they look stunning, mentioned this to my salesman and he said "I would love to make a bit more money from you but you're right to keep it original - as the german engineers designed it - we had a demo with the optional 18's and it didn't handle as well, still handled great but not as well as the 17"s"
So I was delighted to keep my dream car standard -

But If i'm being honest whenever I see some gorgeous MonzaII wheels I find myself justifying it in my head why I kept my baby standard
and when I kerbed one of my wheels last week   I started thinking well why dont I treat myself to some lovely new 18"s

So can I get some honest opinions - 18"s look gorgeous but noiser? problem with white worm? Harsher ride?

From all the reviews I have read before I got my GTI, and test driving a car with the 18's on,

Harsher ride if only slightly with the 18's, along with less handling and acceleration. Also 18's would be prone to more kerbing damage as they have less tyre sidewall, 40 series profile as opposed to 45 series.

I have to admit they look better, but after driving both quite spirited, I preferred the 17's and saved over £400.

Oh and I don't believe the 17's get white worm, or am I incorrect?

Thanks martin, exactly what I was looking for.

Trouble is now i'm thinking about buying the 19 inch versions!!
