CV Boot

Had a mechanic come out to change my outer cv boot on monday, he couldn't get the metal clips on so held it on with cable ties, i looked this morning and there is grease everywhere  looks like i got to buy another cv boot and take it to a garage, more money

Alot of places cable tie them, if they dont have at least a cable tie on them its a mot fail mate

It came with metal clips tho, but he couldn't get them on thats why he cable tied it, i just noticed alot of grease, will have to get under it and make sure it hasn't come off.

yeah there will be grease thats just for the actual cv mate, cant tell without having a butchers underneath

If there is grease everywhere then its either just come off because the cable tie has failed or it has split because it has been flapping about when you have driven it. If its the first then buy some new grease and pack it in and try and get the metal ties on it. When you take the wheel off you should be able to do this yourself. Just don't overtighten them that you cut into the gaiter.

Just been under the car and the cv boot has come of from the wheel, is there anywhere i can get the grease & clip from without buying the full kit?

shame u aint bit closer to my neck of the woods, i work in a garage and we have tubs and tubs of the stuff. oh and i got good crimping pliers for c.v boot clips! hope you get it sorted

That's a shame  nevermind the cv kit was only £11 odd quid so no too expensive
