Engine cutting out

Every now and then my engine seems to cut for a split second, went for a long run and thought it was cured but it's back again. Any ideas please.I know it could be anything but wondered if it was a common thing.

I had a simular issue...while driving it would cut out and then immediately return. Very intermittant and very annoying! Mine was an issue with my ECU....
