MK3 GTi electrics
« on: 20 May 2008, 21:29 »
Hi all, i had a few stereo problems, but to cut a long story short, i found some broken wires in the O/S/R door shut in the rubber boot. So soldered them together, go my rear speaker working now, which is good, but could not find a home for a small black and green wire...? I was wondering if this was anything to do with a couple of problems i have??
When i lock the car, 20ish seconds later it appears to try and lock itself again, with no input from me??? is this normal? ie deadlocks maybe??
Also should the rear windows switches illuminate?? with the lights on, when opening the back doors should the light left on buzzer come on?? - it doesn't on both my back doors, but does on the fronts and the boot.
Everything else appears to work, although apart from the speaker, it all did before but i found 4 broken wires, 1 of them being a thick red and yellow....strange

Cheers

Firstly yes thats the deadlocks, mine does this and it also tricked me into thinking something was up

Secondly, the "lights on" warning will only sound if the lights are on AND the engine is turned OFF, if the engine is on then it wont work no

So the wires part you can forget because there is no problem then?

ok deadlock thing sorted - thanks
so with lights on engine off, both my front doors and hatch activate the buzzer, but both back doors don't is that normal? or is there something a miss?
what about the rear electric window switches, should they illuminate with the lights on? as the fronts do...

ive got a 3door so not too sure, even if they stopped working it will only be a simple bulb change probably if your that bothered.

About the lights on warning............ as long as the drivers door tells you your lights are on thats the main thing?
