Should i rotate tyres?

Hi all... just wondering do you guys rotate your tyres front to rear? I did it on my rx-8 but made the car awefully twitchy at the rear for a thousand miles or so. Would you recommend doing it on a fwd car? Cheers.

no, i wouldnt bother, your better of having the grip at the rear anyway (i.e most tread), and all it means is you will need to replace all four tyres at the same time , IMO of course

so ok 182, if you have a puncture on 1 tyre on the front that couldnt be fixed, with good tread on the tyre, would you replace all 4 then to get the Handling right??, seems a very expensive method. I agree with doing 2 as long as they are on the same axel then the handling shouldnt be effected.
Rx8 is rear wheel drive, GTi is front wheel, so you wanna go rears to front 1st, and put the new rubbers on the rear.

i must have misread what he put, but he never mentioned punctures !!, and never mentioned needing new tyres, just rotating them , i never said swop all fours in one go ??, i said rotating causes you to have to swop all four in one go, i was trying to tell him to avoid the need to swop all in one go (as they all get worn at the same rate, hence need swopping at the same time) , if were talking new tyres i would put new tyres on the rear, BEST TYRES ON THE BACK ALWAYS

thing is, unless im missing something, front wheel drive cars go through roughly 2 sets on the front to one pair on the rears, unless the tyre has perished or shows signs of stress on the tyre walls. Surely, the fronts are the most important as the have to contend with steering, horsepower, and the rears dont have as much to contend with and will last twice as long (on average) then the fronts ( talking normal driving Perameters).

I've never rotated my tyres. Never had any issues with handling or grip either apart from when they are near the end of their lifespan anyway.

I would also keep the best ones on the back.
 
BTW if you keep a balanced throttle though the bends, like a good racing driver then all 4 tires should wear evenly

Because I need only 2 new tyres and I want the new Goodyear F1 Assymetrics, I recently had a chat with Goodyear's UK techsupport (very helpful and very friendly) and they strongly advised me to keep the deeper treads on the rear axle for a FWD car and that it was alright for me to mix the new Assymetrics with their Eagle F1's (which I currently have). But with a 4WD car such as the R32 you should change all 4 at once and not mix them.

are you on 18's ?, i got quite a good deal on a set of F1 asymetrics
