Golf noob questions...
« on: 26 April 2004, 00:52 »
Evening Folks...

Just aquired myself a little run around to get me about cheaply...

MK2 Golf CL 1.6 - F reg with 81k on the clock.

I'm wanting to draw on some of the speciality knowledge here  ;D and hopefully have a couple of questions answered.

1. It looks like there is oil in the air filter box.  Whats causing this and is it anything to worry about ?

2. The brakes feel as though they don't have a servo, ie it takes a bit of a heavy foot to stop (I'm getting used to this), but is it easy enough to just fit one from a higher spec'd model ?

3. On turning the ignition (just the first turn, not actually starting the car) there are a couple of lights flash on the dash, namely the water temp and oil, after a couple of seconds the water temp stops. The oil light continues to flash until I start the engine then it goes off..   Is this OK ??? I've checked the oil levels and they seem fine.

1. This can be a result of along time between oil changes (the oil could be cack)

3.  As far as I know the oil light will stay on until you start the car because there will be no oil pressure, until the engine is running

hope this helps
